The “Tour De Taco – Pueblo Style Mexican Food Ride” is a casual, bicycle ride for all ages, skill levels and appetites!  It will take place on Saturday, September 6th.  Riders will meet at the parking lot on the corner of E. “D” Street and S. Main Street across from the Police Station at 11:00 am.  There will be a safety talk and pre ride handouts provided at 11:15 am before the ride starts.  The ride will cover about 13 miles throughout several areas in Pueblo - including the Mesa Junction, Bessemer, Historic Union Avenue, East Side, and along the new bicycle trails on Greenwood Street and Elizabeth Street on the Historic North Side.  In addition, there will be a couple of stops for a chance to split up to sample the local Mexican cuisine to suit your appetite and your budget.  Plus, there will be 2 opportunities for people to bail out early and not have to ride the entire course.  After the ride, stay around to socialize and enjoy some great Mexican food and drinks at one of the awesome locations!

The ride was created by Stephanie Chambers, Bike and Pedestrian Coordinator for the City of Pueblo, who was hired to manage the functions of the Walk and Wheel Kaiser Permanente Grant.  According to organizer, Stephanie Chambers, “The idea for the ride began about a year ago when my husband, Sam, and I decided to go on a fun bike ride together around Pueblo to see how many authentic Mexican restaurants we could pass.  We took a lot of pictures and stopped for some samples along the way.  After we posted our pictures on social media we got a lot of feedback from people that they wanted us to do it again so they could join us.  I decided this was the perfect time of year for such a ride due to the City of Pueblo’s “Great Pueblo Chile Hunt” and the upcoming “Chile and Frijoles Festival”.  Plus, I’m really excited to show off the new bicycle lanes in Pueblo”!  After the event, a map will be posted online so people can check out the route on their own at any time.

This is a day to bring the community together to celebrate a part of our unique culture in Pueblo from the seat of a bicycle.  Join the “Moving Pueblo Forward” movement and P.A.C.E. – (Pueblo Active Community Environments) and share the excitement of helping Pueblo to be a more bicycle friendly city while supporting local businesses.
