Announcing: Tour De Taco!

Do you like tacos?  Do you like riding bicycles?  Have you ridden on the new bike lanes yet?

Don’t miss the first of its kind – “Tour De Taco” – A Pueblo Style Mexican Food Ride - this Saturday, September 6th, from 11 AM – 4 PM!  This family friendly, casual bicycle ride will pass 17 authentic Pueblo Mexican restaurants around the city.  There are 3 options and they all start at the same time.  The total ride is 13 miles, but there are 2 shorter routes for 9 miles or 4.5 miles.  We will even stop for chances to taste local cuisine and drinks (bring cash or a credit card to buy what you like).    Plus, we will explore Pueblo’s NEW Bicycle Lanes on Greenwood St and Elizabeth St which are being freshly painted this week!

Here’s a peek at the schedule and click here to see the map

11 AM:  Meet at the Main St. Parking Lot by police station – corner of S. Main St and E. “D” St.

11:15 AM:  Safety Briefing and Ride Starts.

1 PM – 2 PM:  We will ride down Historic Union Avenue past Papa Jose’s and Rita’s to the East Side.

*There will be a short drink stop at Vasquez or Taco Stop at this time – Your pick!  (It’s about 9 miles from the beginning of ride).

2 PM – 4 PM:  Continue on entire 13.34 mile ride through the Historic North Side and play on the NEW bike lanes on Greenwood St and Elizabeth St past Burrito’s Betty.  Take a quick loop around Mineral Palace Park ending at Mexican food options downtown including Nacho’s or Rojas as options.    Or visit another one of your favorite local Mexican Restaurant!  Make sure you have your family and friends who are not riding join you afterwards!

*Nachos Restaurant - Downtown Pueblo - will have tacos a la carte available and some indoor bicycle parking after the ride!

Let’s keep it fun and safe!  Riders are encouraged, but not required, to wear helmets.  Plus, we will be following Bicycle safety rules of the road - signaling turns, stopping at red lights, etc.  Riders will have access the Tour De Taco Map which has all 3 routes on it, as well as, instructions on how to get back to the parking lot.

The ride is sponsored by the City of Pueblo and P.A.C.E. – Pueblo Active Community Environments as part of the Moving Forward campaign from the Walk and Wheel Kaiser Permanente Grant.

So, grab your bicycles and some friends, family members or kids, and join us!  Help make this successful so we can expand on it and do it again next year!
