2014 Bike to Work Events

Pueblo is joining the National Bike Challenge that runs May 1st through September.  The months of May and June data are used for our local Commuter Cup and bike month recognition. The months

Pueblo Commuter Cup Challenge - This fun, friendly worksite challenge between local employers will take place during National and Colorado Bike months (May and June). This encourages employees to leave the car at home more and try to make bike/walk commuting a habit. In 2011, 147 participants avoided 1,603 car trips and rode/walked 15,677 miles to and from work! Start promoting the challenge and bike to work days at your work site and collecting team members to become the healthiest and greenest business in town!

  • Individuals Register for the National Bike Challenge . Listing a Pueblo County zip code adds you to our Community Challenge, listing your employer adds you to their challenge and you can even add a social team to have fun challenging your friends, neighbors or family to ride more!
  • May and June Awards for National Bike Challenge and local Commuter Cup Challenge - Wednesday, July 2nd, 6:30 pm at Angelo's on the Riverwalk 
  • July, August, September for National Bike Challenge - keep riding and logging your data all summer long!  This is difficult data to capture and you help provide us valuable data to prove cycling improvements are needed and valued here.   Awards will be given each month for top participants!

Thursday, May 1st, 2014:   Kick off bike month after work

  • Join the kick off Cruisin' Pueblo ride of the season and National Bike Month! 
  • Meet at Bingo Burger 6 pm, casual cruiser ride leaves around 6:30 pm and stay after for beer tasting from New Belgain brewing and of course great food at Bingo Burger. 
  • Ride your bike and get 10% off your entire bill. Free giveaways from Sundance bike shop and sponsors.

Friday, May 16th:  National Bike to Work Day! 

  • Free breakfast stop downtown 6-9 a.m. at Main St and Grand parking lot (old Health Dept) by SRDA and City Hall.  Register and reserve a breakfast burrito here!
  • Group rides: Not sure what route to take? Want some company? Join a group ride with a ride mentor.  Groups meeting at:
    • Pueblo West- Legacy Bank at Spaulding and McCulloch at 6:00 am
    • City Park pool parking lot at 6:30
    • University Park area at trailhead off Bluestem  and Cedarweed at 6:30 am
    • Mesa area- St. Joseph's church by McDonalds at 6:40 am 
    • Create your own group from your neighborhood! 
  • Downtown Tour:  fun 2-mile group ride at 7:30 a.m. around downtown,  enjoy meeting other cyclists, complimentary drinks, snacks and give aways.

Wednesday, June 25th:  Colorado Bike to Work Day!

  • Free breakfast stops 6-9 a.m. at these locations:  Parkview Medical Center - NEW Location - Employee Shuttle Parking Lot (1128 Sante Fe Dr), St. Mary Corwin front patio west entrance (outside black windows), Pueblo City-County Health Department (101 W. 9th St), Pueblo West Chamber of Commerce  at Legacy Bank (Spaulding & McCulloch).
  • Group rides:  Volunteers will be leading rides from the following locations: 1)  Pueblo West Chambers of Commerce bfast stop - go to Legacy Bank (Spaulding & McCullouch) at 6 am.  Lead:  Kim Arline.   2) City Park - pool parking lot - 6:30 am.  Lead:  Dane Gomez.  3)  Regency Park at 6:00 am:  Lead Mike Cuppy.  4)  Corner of Roselawn and Aspen in the Mesa area at 6:15 am.  Lead: Sarah Joseph.
  • Please contact us if you want to lead a ride at a different location or leave at a different time.
