2012 Pueblo Commuter Cup Challenge

Registration for the 2012 Commuter Cup is now open!  Join here!

There are a few changes in 2012 for the 3rd Annual Pueblo Commuter Cup Challenge over previous years:

  • Commuter data will be collected through the Pueblo Health Challenge with monthly prizes, events and information all year long as a Challenge within that Challenge.
  • Report data once a month instead of every week. Participants will get an email link to submit data no later than the 5th of the following month.
  • Can submit data all year long, not just a few weeks a year during the Commuter Cup. This data is valuable for grants and funding for more bike lanes and trails!  Can also be used for other fun challenges during the year!
  • Submit the following totals each month through the online form: miles biked, miles walked, miles run, number miles that were for commuting purposes (to work, school, store, gym etc), number round-trip car trips avoided (up to max of 3 per day), number hours of other exercise and number hours volunteered.  Make sure you submit May and June data for the Commuter Cup Challenge!
  • Tracking form can be downloaded or just track on your own calendar.
  • Commute Miles:  all commutes, not just "to work" commutes on foot or bike can be included so commuting to school, the store, bank, restaurant, the pool or gym will also count.  Include fun/fitness miles walked, run or bicycled as well as commute miles for prizes in the Health Challenge and demonstrate people are active in Pueblo!
  • Car trips avoided:  Track round-trips in your car that are avoided up to 3 per day (allows to work and home, to lunch and back, somewhere else after work and back)

The Commuter Cup Challenge trophies and prizes will be based on "Commuter Points"  earned during the months of May and June 2012.

  • Individuals will earn "Commuter Points" based on submitted "commute miles" and "number of car trips avoided". A commute to work rate used in the past is not possible adding in all commutes.
  • Worksite teams will be ranked by total team and team per capita "Commuter Points" to encourage teams to get as many team members commuting as possible.  Trophies will be awarded to the team with the highest total points and top rated per capita Commuter Point average.  A tie breaker calculation may be needed if another challenging team has a considerably higher per capita Commuter Point average and close Total Commuter Points
  • The "Commuter Points" gives an extra 2 miles for every round-trip avoided in a car because more frequent, short distance commutes eliminate the most pollution and are the easiest to incorporate into your day but are often overlooked.  Also tries to level the field for less frequent, longer distance commutes.

Commuter Points = Commute miles + (2 X Car trips Avoided)

  • Worksite Teams are divided into three divisions again based on the number of employees.  A team leader needs to be identified to provide some team support, deliver prizes and provide employer demographics.  Register your worksite team!
